Rhode Island has over 400 miles of coastline, and with over 100 beaches, you’re bound to find one that’s perfect for your needs – whether that’s surfing, snorkeling, socializing or just sunbathing.

All beaches will charge $15-$30 to get in and park during the peak season.  This is a very small list of the many things RI beaches have to offer.

Matunuck:/ Approx 25 min

The area is home to several notable beaches including Moonstone Beach, South Kingstown Town Beach at Matunuck, East Matunuck State Beach, and Roy Carpenter’s Beach and cottages. The well-known Theatre-by-the-Sea playhouse is also in Matunuck and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For East MatunuckBeach, get there early to find parking in the lot.

Ocean Mist is a relaxed pub/beach hangout with music

Charlestown:/ Approx 25 min

  • East Beach – beautiful beach! Fairly limited parking
  • Blue Shutters Beach

Westerly:/ Approx 30 min

  • Misquamicut Beach: Party area, lots of beach, restaurants/bars along water, water slide, etc. /

Great Pub: Check out Windjammer Surf Bar.  Cool beach bar with live music and Adirondack chairs overlooking the ocean.

Watch Hill: Approx 25 min

Right around the corner from Misquamicut. Beautiful area with pretty, small beach and shopping.

  • Great lunch or dinner: Olympia Tea Room.
  • Great (but more expensive) brunch:The Ocean House (beautiful place, right next door to Taylor Swift’s house – don’t try to fly your drone over her property. Just sayin’)

Napatree Point Conservation area / Approx 40 min

Beautiful breach and area, a little hard to get to but worth it

Narragansett/ Approx 35 min

Narragansett Town Beach – beautiful beach to walk. Decent facilities. Great place for a drink and/or dinner: Coast Guard House. Great place for lunch: Turtle Soup. / Approx 35 min

  • Also go Inside The Break Hotel: Chair Five Bar- Great for drink, great views!

Galilee Fishing Port:/ Approx 35 min

Good seafood lunch at George’s or Champlin’s Seafood, small beach behind it, walk through fishing village and walk up to lighthouse. Near Roger Wheeler and Salty Brine Beaches.

Scarborough Beach:/ Approx 35 min

Large beach with great facilities.

Newport/30 min
